Mary Morton

Sewing volunteer and activist mender.

Who are you?

I am a sewing volunteer with SHRUB Coop, an Edinburgh based Zero Waste Charity, passing on garment repair skills at weekly sewing sessions. In addition I am an activist mender who founded the Edinburgh Street Stitchers to share the importance of keeping clothing in use for longer by mending in public. I co-authored Stitch It Don’t Ditch It – simple hand-sewn repairs to help you love your clothes for longer.

What does ‘regenerative’ mean to you?

What attracts you to Fibreshed Scotland? When / how did you first hear about Fibreshed?

I was attracted to Fibreshed Scotland because of their Soil to Soil approach, which made sense to me because I was brought up on a farm. I could also see exactly where what I was doing fit in.
